Pickup from Happy Stay-at-Home Helpers for the Soupmobile – Monday, Aug 3

Prayer is such a precious tool given us at all times, and there is newfound appreciation for it now! One prayer that Bill Wilson and those who started the 12 step programs of recovery use as a part of their process to learn how to live a great life is as follows: “God, grant me the serenity the accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” This prayer has been attributed to theologian American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. It certainly has helped me many times in the past, and continues to help in today’s current situation!

Thank you, all, for seizing the opportunities around you to change things for the better, especially for helping those who are needing food. Each time I say that, it is simply difficult to imagine that in this country, there are people who have difficulty getting enough food, and especially good quality food. Incomprehensible! We are so grateful for your tremendous help! Much gratitude to this week’s generously, kind-as-always givers: Poonam and Suresh; Sundari, Madhuri, Vidya, Shreya, and Lambo, (white cute fuzzy adorable one pictured above, who eagerly rides along to deliver things at our door; Carolyn Cole (loved those homemade cookies); the Vargases; Rosa and Jon (continuing to bring things even while Jon has been unwell and in the hospital-he is now BETTER and at home) The car was packed with precious food filled with love!

This week’s list has changed slightly, as the Soupmobile is now open to accepting some sandwiches that need refrigeration, that might have mayo, mustard, catsup, barbecue sauce on them. Of course the peanut butter/almond butter ones are still gratefully accepted, but also accepting other kinds. Possibly veggie burger ones, or cheese sandwiches could work, or anyone can use his/her creativity. They decided to open things up for a little variety and use their refrigerated trucks for this purpose. Other than that, please keep the items below coming, especially the masks, as they seem to be giving out lots of those in order to keep people well and out of the hospitals for sure.

Below is the complete list of needed items:

  • Individual portions of snacks like chips and/or individual portions of healthful cookies and desserts
  • Fruits like oranges, bananas
