Hoping everyone is being kind to themselves, and staying cool during these hottest days of Texas heat. A nice cool glass of cucumber juice surely helps!
Please join with us to lend a kind hand to those in need of food, and also those who are experiencing houseless challenges. Did you know that the Austin Street Center was directly helping in getting housing for 276 people last year? Wow, that is incredible and a tremendous amount of energy given to do just that. Let us help with their every day needs by donating the following items this week as well as any non-perishable items (no refrigerable items and please no meat) for those food challenged folks serviced by the North Texas Food Bank. Anything you like to eat are great items. The items listed below are those currently most needed by the houseless souls:
The items needed by the Shelter at this time include the following but are not limited to these items. (please collect all your UNUSED toiletries if you are traveling this year, as the shelter and other charities love these items, especially since they are individual sized for people. Hotels will normally give you extras if you let them know to whom you are giving. The air mattresses are for those folks leaving the center into housing in hopes they will have a bed when they leave the shelter, so if you have any blow up mattresses that you once used and no longer need, please pay them forward along with whatever else you might have that would be useful.)
Any food item, including spices, whole packaged meals,(nothing refrigerable or perishable and no meat with the exception of frozen breakfast foods for Austin Street), sauces, beans, pasta, nuts, nut butters, crackers, protein powder, canned soups, condiments, etc., anything you would eat yourself and think others would enjoy is great for the food bank.
