It is difficult to find inspiration in the withering heat of the Texas summer. All of nature is withdrawing and contracting back into itself for pure survival. We are not unaffected by that. But fortunately as yogis, we have the unique ability to both withdraw and expand, as opposed to simply contract. It is a choice we can make to uplift our consciousness in the calmness of meditation or just hold on the best we can. Often it’s a mixed bag, not quite fully trusting that inspiration alone will provide enough sustenance. What holds us back is typically a primordial fear of lack, a sense of unworthiness, and the ever spinning energy of our subconscious trajectories.

Spiritual Directors of Ananda Worldwide, Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi offer this advice, “Living with a sense of abundance and appreciation for what we have, having high focused energy to achieve our goals, sharing with others, and developing deep faith in God – all these will give us the ability to weather whatever storms may lie ahead”. Or, as we Texans might say instead, “gives us the ability to weather whatever the heat of our lives brings to bear upon us.”
