The autumnal harvest moon shines brightly in the night sky right now. Paramhansa Yogananda was often quoted as saying, “The moon gives more light than all the stars.”
Ananda’s Spiritual Director, Nayaswami Jyotish wrote in a blog years ago:

(The full moon) is an important spiritual image, the esoteric meaning of which is that while the moon (a spiritual master) creates no light of its own, and reflects only the light of the sun (God), it still fills our night with more light than all the stars (egos).

In quatrain seventy-four quoted above from The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, Swami Kriyananda writes in the commentary that “as the moon waxes and wanes, so do human joys alternate with sorrows, human fulfillments with disappointments…(but) the wise sage, achieving (Divine Consciousness) passes beyond all dualities of light and darkness, pleasure and pain. He discovers Divine Bliss, ever new, but ever changeless.”

Think too of the invoked “sound” of the moon especially as reflected upon the water. There is a sense of deep inner stillness, the astral music reflective of the sound of Aum and the silence within.

Tomorrow we are offering a sound healing immersion that can also help instill and restore in you through the power of sound, these qualities of the astral heavens.

As we therefore stand in awe of this grand image of the heavens, let’s endeavor to reflect like the moon— light and calmness out into the world.

Together in light, calmness, and the sound of silence,
