There’s something unique about Ananda — it is the true heir to East – West yoga, guided by a Self-realized yoga master who showed Westerners a way to combine their wisdom with India’s–beginning exactly 100 years ago. Ananda Yoga has a unique mission to bring this understanding to the world, and many of you have asked when Ananda Dallas would offer Yoga Teacher Training again. That 200 Hour training is now set to launch.
Rather than focusing only on the physical body, Ananda Yoga harnesses the subtle energy of each asana, channeling it inward and upward. As an Ananda Yoga teacher, you will experience and share the higher states of awareness attainable through each asana.
We will learn the classic Hatha Yoga postures (asanas) with a focus on the subtle aspects such as breath awareness (pranayama), prana (energy) in the spine and chakras, affirmations, safe yoga practice, individual modifications, 8-Fold Path & yoga sutras, spiritual awakening, anatomy, and much more!
.
Ananda Yoga returns to yoga’s original purpose to vitalize and expand our awareness from the body, to the mind, to the soul and beyond–to include all life.
Ananda Yoga Includes:
* Asanas (classic yoga postures)
* Pranayama (traditional raja yoga breathing and energy-control techniques)
* Effective meditation & centering techniques, including affirmations
* Spirituality (nondenominational)
Ananda Yoga bestows physical strength, relaxation, inner peace, and clarity of mind. Our meditative and individual approach makes Ananda Yoga inwardly directed toward self-awareness and inner joy. Additionally, Ananda Yoga is gentle for beginning students and becomes gradually more challenging as the student gains experience and chooses to expand his or her boundaries.
Ananda Yoga Classes Emphasize:
* Safety and correct alignment
* Relaxation, even during effort
* Working with the body’s energy for harmony and balance
* Using the postures to refine self-awareness and experience inner peace and joy
* Modifying each yoga posture to fit the needs of each student
What Makes Ananda Yoga Unique?
Energization Exercises– The Energization Exercises were developed by Paramhansa Yogananda. Their effect is both immediate and long-term, for their purpose is to increase the amount of vitality and energy drawn into the body by concentration and will power, sensitively applied. Their benefits are numerous and include enhanced health, accelerated healing, emotional balance, concentration and self-control, positive attitude, and will power. They serve as excellent warm-ups for hatha yoga and for meditation.
Affirmations– Each yoga posture is paired with its own affirmation, which one practices silently while in the posture. The affirmation is designed to reinforce the posture’s natural effect on one’s state of consciousness, bringing the mind actively and directly into one’s practice.
History and Lineage
Ananda Yoga is an expression of the Raja and Kriya Yoga precepts of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi. Yogananda was the first great master of yoga to make his home permanently in the West. (He became a U.S. citizen in the 1930s.) Ananda Yoga arose from his training of close disciples and was later developed from that training into its current form by his direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda, the founder of Ananda, and by those yoga teachers whom Kriyananda commissioned to do so.
