The Memorial Day weekend officially marks the beginning of summer for most of us. In Texas the heat looms just around the corner, but because we have had a deliciously wet spring, the foliage is explosively lush and verdant . The pranic life force is at its peak. It surrounds us and affects us on subtle levels (and not so subtle levels, as in the form of allergies!) What’s  amazing is we can actually harness this force for our own healing. The great yogi master, Paramhansa Yogananda taught us that by using our will we can actually draw on the power of Nature, to renew and re- energize our own body battery. This life force is the ultimate healing energy necessary to revitalize our bodies on every level. It is the divine force that animates and sustains all of life. This understanding is the basis of his Energization Exercises which are Yogananda’s unique contribution to the world of yoga. Who doesn’t want to feel more energy and restore the body balance? We dedicate so many hours to diet and exercise in what is, according to Yogananda, an indirect way to access true sustenance and well-being.

A three volume series of books was recently published on this subject called, Healing with Life Force, by Nayaswami Shivani. It gives an in-depth understanding not only of the life force principles for healing, but many wonderful stories about the efficacy of the Energization Exercises as well.
