Welcome to the new year and all its energy toward positive, dynamic change in our lives. It may seem odd then, to consider our “failures” at this juncture. But it can also be constructive to take inventory of the year that has passed and how we do want to forge new directions in our lives. It’s prep time for planting the seeds for better days ahead.
Swami Kriyananda says we have to bring energy to whatever we want to accomplish. If we want more joy in our lives, we have to meet joy half way—expect more joy and act with joy! We have to create a conscious magnetism of thought and willingness to root out the subconscious tendencies and resistances. Our meditation practices along with positive affirmation till the soil for that.
But is it all up to us and what if we aren’t “there” yet? What if the new year greets us with an underlying sense of discouragement? This is where the magic resides in all our endeavors. If we can include God in everything we do and give all our efforts to Him, then we find our strength renewed in the loving embrace of Grace itself. Engage with all your heart, calling out to the Divine Mother for her energy to flow through you to accomplish all that you will to do. A saint is a sinner who never gives up, Yogananda said. And then always remembering these famous words of Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita,
Cling thou to me! Clasp Me with heart and mind! So shalt thou dwell surely with Me on high. But if thy thought droops from such height; if thou be’st weak to set body and soul upon Me constantly, Despair not! Give Me lower service ……
Work for Me, toil in works pleasing to Me! For he that laboureth right for love of Me shall finally attain! But if in this,
Thy faint heart fails, bring Me thy failure!
Banat banat ban jai!
